4.5/5 ★ – benhmedia's review of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition.
Finally got around to playing this game and I love nearly everything about it. Beautiful music, art style, a sweet story, super atmospheric, and most importantly: it’s fun! While I usually prefer metroidvanias with big boss fights, the level design and platforming mostly makes up for that. Heck, even just moving around in this game is a joy - especially after you’ve unlocked most of the game’s power ups.
My biggest gripe is Forlorn Ruins. That challenge was way more tedious than it was enjoyable, and felt less rewarding than all the other platforming challenges of the game. But man is everything else so incredibly good, including the final set of challenges with the lava! This is a near-perfect game and, at around 10-12 hours, is neither too short nor too long. I’ll definitely be checking out the sequel at some point in the future!
