A big swing by FromSoftware that is mostly a success for me. The gameplay loop is extremely addictive and the satisfaction from beating a Nightlord is immense. There are a few issues however that keep it from bring great. The bizarre revive mechanic feels clunky and irritating. The game also does not allow matchmaking for duos meaning if a player drops out you're kind is screwed as they haven't done enough balancing work for two. I thought the use of Dark Souls bosses would bother me but to be honest, Fromsoft did a good job communicating what this was so I was able to treat Nightreign as a completely standalone experience that was more about fun and excitement than something within the canon.
