4.5/5 ★ – bobbykickball's review of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Now my second favorite Pokémon title in the franchise, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a breath of fresh air! The Monster Hunter-like wild areas and hub system works so well for Pokémon. The graphics are limited by the Switch, that much is true, but the cell-shaded, simpler art direction really helps the game scoot around that criticism. I feel a new sense of adventure each time I leave Jubilife Village because I know that I'm going to encounter different species in different environments. The story is compelling, but I love this game because it truly offers that sense of discovering Pokémon that you can't get elsewhere. It isn't often in these games that we stumble across something, but that's felt deeply in the exploration of the Hisui region. Crossing paths with a flock of Starly, facing off against an Alpha Garchomp, or being zapped and "fainted" by a Shinx are experiences only found in PLA. And as a fun side note, the shiny hunting in this game is VERY enjoyable.
