3/5 ★ – bokonon764's review of Dragon Marked for Death.
A quest-based, side-scrolling RPG platformer with a retro style. It plays kind of like an arcade, 4 player game, like Sunset Riders, Turtles In Time, stuff like that, but the RPG edge set it apart.
The art is really cool, retro-inspired 8-bit kinda stuff. It’s got an anime influence, and it’s art style is maybe the most fun thing about it. Dragon Marked for Deaths game world is a pretty basic fantasy universe, dragon warrior stuff, it really just kinda went above, below, and beside my head, anywhere but in it.
Combat is repetitive, and platforming is frustrating, at best. It still kept me playing for a bit though, as the level designs are conceptually and physically sound. There are four characters to play as, with two more unlockable. I just played as the main one. It’s a multi-player game that I played as a a single-player game, so I don’t know, take this with a grain of salt.
Fun game, good music, cool art, just didn’t wanna play more than 6 or 7 missions of it. I think the couch co-op would have made it a lot more fun. I may come back to it.
