3.5/5 ★ – bokonon764's review of Super Stardust HD.

Asteroids on crack. I played this back in the day on PS3. It was probably the first downloadable indie game I had ever played. I had all but forgotten it until I came across on the PlayStation store. Stardust is a simple arcade game that’s fun as hell. It’s a space themed, top down, bullet hell that delivers heavy on its only offering. There’s really not much to say, other than it’s exactly what it needs to be; colorful and bright, explosions everywhere. There’s three different lasers, screen clearing bombs, and a booster attack that lets you pose through any object. With these three simple tools at your disposal, the name of the game is don’t get hit. The Asteroids wraparound style makes it so there’s very few safe spaces on the screen; a true bullet hell. I didn’t play too much, just enough to get the platinum. I’ve begun to feel as though my quest for platinum trophies has lead me to rely too heavily on handicaps such as guides, the PS5 emulator’s rewind feature, and cheesing. Some of the platinum trophies in this game seems extremely difficult to get; I would not have been able to get them without the rewind feature. What have I become? Whatever though, super fun game and a blast from the past.
