3.5/5 ★ – bryansbane's review of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
I wanted this game so bad when I was a kid so I saved my money and made sure to check for the best price online so I could have enough as quick as possible. The day finally came and my parents to me to the game store to pick it up. As I drew nearer to the glass case I could see that the price tag read $35 instead of the $25 it was listed for online. I only had $25 and was devastated. I ended up going home with a different game.
Fast forward to a few months later and I have come into some money again, I had $25 so I checked the website again to see if I was wrong, but I wasn’t…it still said $25. So with renewed hope my mother took me back to the game store. Once again the copy behind the glass said $35…but I was prepared. I brought a printed out copy of the games listing online and asked to speak to a manager. He checked the glass case to see what was going on. As he pulled out the front copy from a row of about 5 copies of the game, he realized that only the copy in the front was labeled at $35 while the rest were at $25. The game had accidentally been labeled with the wrong price! Not only was I able to go home with the game I wanted, I also felt vindicated in my effort to prove to everyone I could afford it. It was a great day.
As far as the game itself goes, it’s a competent licensed Harry Potter platformer that I played repeatedly. I had the PS1 version which was a different game than the PS2/Xbox versions, but I never felt like I wasn’t getting the whole experience. Take me back!
