4.5/5 ★ – bryansbane's review of Mass Effect 3.
Oh, Mass Effect 3 how I mistreated you. Unlike most, I was fine with the ending of the game. My problem was actually most of the rest of the game itself. Things felt simplified or changed too much from what had came before in Mass Effect 2 and it really threw me off. New characters were here I didn’t care for and old characters were gone I missed. Certain things like EDI’s transformation didn’t land for me at the time, but in the years since and on a replay…I kind of love it all.
Mass Effect 3 definitely has some issues. Many of the character decisions that cross over from the prior entries either become superficial or are replaced with generic versions of those characters if you had let them die. Dialog choices are weaker and Mass Effect as a whole at this point feels way more third person shooter than it does RPG. It all comes together it what ends up being a great game and a worthy conclusion to a trilogies worth of story. I used to think it was crazy that this was some people’s favorite entry in the series, but I now realize it’s more or less as good as the first two. You can’t go wrong with any of these games. Even Andromeda…though save that one for last!
