Man, when Star Fox Assault hit the GameCube back in the day my brother and I thought it was one of the best games ever. It married the classic Star Fox 64 style with the on foot gameplay of Star Fox adventures to create something both unique and familiar. I loved the characters and the plot and honestly thought this would be the template for the series moving forward. Unfortunately, it was the first and the last of its kind. Looking back it’s clear to see the ground missions were undercooked and that back then and still to this day Star Fox was struggling to find its own identity. The franchise has failed to connect with everyone in the way other classic Nintendo IP has. I think it’s possible Star Fox can do that one day, but I’m not confident Nintendo will give it the time or budget. My recommendation is to just release this game again as a $60 remaster on switch and see how many copies it sells. Star Fox Assault is awesome.
