4/5 ★ – bryansbane's review of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I freaking love Brawl. What a shame it’s trapped on the Wii and not in HD. This is the Smash game that went for the rule of cool over functionality. It’s perhaps the least competitive the series has ever felt, but it’s got so many amazing characters and a genuinely awesome single player story. I’ll never forget the hype around seeing Zelda Twilight Princess stages and renditions of the characters on screen. Additions like Sonic and Solid Snake…it felt unreal back in the day. I think Brawl will ultimately be remembered as the misstep in the series, but take away the ultra competitive side of things and what you have is one of the coolest party fighting games ever.
