3/5 ★ – carpenkinda428's review of Tomb Raider: Legend.

Not quite as solid as Tomb Raider: Anniversary, which would come out after this. I think the combat focus in this game doesn’t really lend itself any favors, especially when the combat is as underdeveloped and janky as it is. It gets the job done in something like Anniversary but here, it almost feels like it’s trying to overtake the puzzles, which should be the focus. Also, the story isn’t all that great. It hits its peak right at the end with a fantastic twist and an amazing final interaction with Amanda but then the game straight up ends right on the spot. Everything before it feels like it’s just setup, not the main attraction. It’s still fun though, with the puzzles never being too difficult to slow down the pacing yet never easy enough to feel half-assed. It’s an admirable Tomb Raider entry, although as a whole, it gets me more excited to see what the final entry in this Legend trilogy, Underworld, is like.
