4/5 ★ – codyb's review of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux.
I remember reading a lot about this game before playing it and seeing that it was a bit of an undertaking but I brushed it off. My god, I should have considered this more. I love SMT and this is my 4th entry of the series (I've played 3, 4, and 5) and was especially excited to have an excuse to play the 'ol 3DS. Cutting to the chase, these dungeons have changed me as a person. I do not think I can even walk down the halls of my apartment without making sure every single wall has been checked for hidden doors. The frustration that came with the hidden doors, moving tiles, pitfalls, and teleporters have left me scarred but also relieved that I was able to make it through this game without throwing my little console across the room. That all being said, this absolutely scratched the SMT itch I seem to have had for a while and may need to get checked out; demon collecting in a sci-fi setting with the SMT moral decision making and JRPG mechanics? Hell yeah. This game is definitely a work of art in its own right and holds a place along with the other titles that I've played in the series. No games with moving tiles or hidden doors for me for a while though; I need to recover.
