2/5 ★ – colt_jay's review of Tribes of Midgard.

Tribes of Midgard is a squarely middling game. It plays for the most part like a Diablo game, with a story ripped directly from Valheim, and some basic base building taken from Don't Starve. None of this is an indictment of the game. On the contrary, I love all three of those games. But very little of this game compares in execution to its inspirations. Where it does shine is in its multiplayer where playing with a group of friends is a lot of fun. Where ToM really lost me though is the Gotcha Game style menu, meta progression, and cosmetic microtransactions. I am deeply opposed to games that do not respect their players' time and this game does that in spades. But for the truly delightful and painless multiplayer experience, this game would have been a solid 1 star.
