4/5 ★ – conmanwilson's review of LEGO DC Super-Villains.

So far they haven’t been able to top the original Lego Marvel Superheroes, but this is about as close they’ve come. The various locales (which are basically a greatest-hits collection of DC locations with everything from Gotham to Gorilla City,) the “Crisis on Two Earths” inspired story, and the voice acting by the likes of Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy give this an authentic DC feel. The story is simple but enjoyable, and I appreciate the effort in giving lesser-known characters like Solomon Grundy, Mirror Master, and Granny Goodness a bit of spotlight. The puzzles and difficulty are about what you’d expect, but that’s not exactly why I’m playing this simplistic kids superhero game from a franchise that innovates at a snails pace. I’m playing it because I want to fly around as Sinestro or smash cars as King Shark in an open world, and this game lets you do that. You even create your own villain who plays a key role in the campaign! Legitimately wasn’t expecting that. Overall I feel they really cared about the property and put an immense amount of loving detail into the open world and the individual levels, and the game in general is one of the best DC experiences this side of Injustice 2. I plan on getting 100% completion in this game and all its DLC like I did with Lego Marvel Superheroes 1, so I’ll edit this review and add my thoughts at that time.
