3/5 ★ – coolthom's review of Cyberpunk 2077.

I really, really, REALLY want to love this game. I see what they were going for with everything, it was truly an ambitious game. But man, it is really a clusterfuck. The world is awesome, no doubt. Night City has its own feel and the characters you meet are all interesting because of their lives and backstories. But the rest of it feels lifeless. There are no NPC routines, which has been a staple of RPGs since like Oblivion. From 2006. One year before fuckin Two Worlds came out. NPCs in open gameplay just feel like decoration instead of actually making for a dynamic world. Furthermore, holy shit the driving patterns are bad. The gunplay reminds me a lot of Borderlands, which is not in itself a bad thing. With that said, there’s one thing that bothers me, and I’m not sure whether this is a setting I overlooked or anything, but I always keep running out of ammo in the middle of fights. There ought to be an auto-pickup of ammo, because when I go to loot an enemy I end up picking up their gun which just adds to my inventory space. The gunplay feels stiff at times but is still fun. Driving is a nightmare. The backstories for V are meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Keanu rocked. I’m not gonna talk about the bugs and issues on PS4 bc they’ve been talked about at length. But holy shit it’s bad
