3.5/5 ★ – cosmicjack's review of Final Fantasy XV.
This game holds up to its claim as an FF for old & new fans. It's a pretty emotional ride. The game boasted a massive open world but I feel like I could've been more attached to the world in general. References were made to specific lore & sometimes we experienced that lore as the player, but it felt like more of a 'tell' instead of 'show' situation. This game really would've needed a whole other game to expand on some of the cool ideas it had, but for some reason didn't pack more of it into this one. My expectations of Squenix storytelling are a bit high because of how they'd succeeded in the past. It would've been nice to see the same applied here, not to say that I didn't enjoy playing it or wouldn't play it again, but their challenges & lengthy game development clearly put a wrench in having the last part of the game especially feel like it delivered what it lead up to. Scrapping the remainder of the DLCs was also a pretty crappy move on their part.
