3.5/5 ★ – crivero10's review of Cyberpunk 2077.

I never bought into the years long C77 hype. I didn't had the game under my radar until the very moment it released and the massive shit storm happened. I must say the only reason I gave it a chance and bought the game was because of the guaranteed refund safe net. I'm glad I took the chance to play it. To give context I must also say, my experience might be exceptional since I played the game on the Series S once the 1.0.6 was released, hence I most likely encountered few(er) bugs and better graphics performance than the majority of gamers reviewing here. The story is immersive and the characters are great. Production design is simply mind blowing to say the least. From the very moment my character boarded the AV giving me the full panoramic view of the city I knew this would be an amazing world to explore, and it was. Walking through the streets of NC, entering the clubs and mega buildings is simply a mesmerizing during the first hour or two of gameplay. That being said, the game does have a lot of problems when it comes to gameplay. First of all, and most annoying of all, the driving experience. Driving mechanics are plain out of a low budget sixth generation console game. Second of all, the lack of significant RPG elements. C77 could very well be a linear game because in-game choices don't matter at all. The main game is literally the same for everyone regardless of dialog choices except for the last quest where the player chooses an ending. And last but not least, the lack of customization. The character creator is basic to say the least and the fact that you can't change your appearance later in the game is plain lazy. Also, you'll spend the whole game dressed like shit because there are few to none clothes with decent armor specs and the loot system is shit. Of course you can upgrade through crafting but unless you're using money glitches you most likely won't be able to fit that into budget. Overall, I feel like C77 lands somewhere between Fallout 4 and Watch Dogs, when many expected it to be this generation's GTA 5. A shame to say the least. Now that I've completed the main quests and the fair share of side quests I was interested in I'm asking Microsoft for my guaranteed refund as I see no value in holding my license of the game anymore without a multiplayer mode.
