[I do own a legitimate copy of this game; I only played it on an emulator for convenience.]
This is probably the most underrated Kingdom Hearts game. While the controls can be a little clunky at times, this game has a very impressive scale for a DS game and has one of the best stories in a Kingdom Hearts game. The format of the game allows for the story to be told slowly over the course of the entire game, while most games in the series will only have story important moments at the beginning and end of the game, maybe with a tiny bit sprinkled throughout. On a similar note, out of all the Kingdom Hearts games, this is probably the one where the Disney worlds matter the most. Roxas actually learns new things about himself when he visits certain worlds which allows his personal story to carry forward.
