5/5 ★ – cyning_cory's review of Elden Ring.

To start off I’m not a huge Dark Souls fan, I couldn’t get into them and didn’t like the whole “difficult to be difficult” schtick (not saying that’s all they had going for them). I went into Elden Ring highly skeptical, expecting to hate it. I had an annoying coworker around its release non stop talking about it and telling me to play it that it turned me off from wanting to play it, for over a year I’d wager. But I’m more than happy that I did give the game a chance. This game is a 10/10, 5/5, 100% score. A masterpiece, simply put. This game is difficult like other FromSoft games, but more accessible and gives you many ways to play and do things. It’s got the typical convoluted FromSoft quest design, way of handling lore, all of that but despite that none of it detracts from the game’s very unique experience. This game has exploration, biome variation, and secrets in spades. The gameplay is fun and challenging, so many different spells and abilities, an amount of weaponry and enchantments too long to list. Lots of unique bosses, and reused ones at times. Some bosses are fun to fight and others make you hate your life, make you want to rip your arm off and beat your tv or monitor with it. Fortunately you can invite your friends to help you, but at the same time opens you up to having the biggest sweatlords invade you in a form of sadistic PVP. The PVP is fun but you better git good (I am not gud btw). All that being said this game is a must play and one of my all time favorites, within my top 3 games.
