4.5/5 ★ – davidcoaker's review of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

damn, what can I even say. Snake Eater enhances nearly every aspect of the stealth formula established in the first two games, leading into more simulation/role-playing aspects such as hunting to gain stamina or repairing your body after getting stabbed or shot at. The gameplay is genuinely engaging and every scenario is fun. The story takes a breather after MGS2’s intense philosophical debates while still asking important questions that the MGS series is known for. John is a genuinely engaging character who differs from Solid Snake in important ways, it makes you empathize with him in ways you couldn’t or didn’t with David. Also the intro is beautiful.
