5/5 ★ – delaydan17's review of Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
99/100
Fire Emblem Three Houses is a masterpiece. While I had played FE before, Three Houses is the game that made me fall in love with Fire Emblem as an essential series.
The story is incredible, providing different and compelling perspectives depending on what path you choose, and giving you different interpretations of the complex lore. Nearly all the characters are compelling and three dimensional, a big step forward from other Fire Emblem Games.
I have played through all the story routes multiple times and ultimately I’m a Black Eagles boy all the way. No matter what route you choose, the incredibly developed characters make for an intimate, tragic, and compelling story.
The tactics and gameplay are very engaging and well developed both on and off the battlefield. Characters can occupy and excel in a wide range of appealing and powerful classes. For a true Fire Emblem experience, one should always play “classic” mode with permadeath. It makes the gameplay more high stakes, investing, and more deeply connected to the story.
The music is so good! I especially love “The Long Road,” although “God Shattering Star,” “The Spirit Dias,” and “Guardian of Starlight” are all phenomenal.
My most beloved characters (who I first romanced): Hubert and Lysithea. I guess I’ve got a thing for dark mages?
