85/100 It is widely acknowledged that Super Mario Sunshine is a bit of an odd duck in the mainline Super Mario 3D platformers. The water gun mechanic is only pretty fun, and they actually sacrifice the amazing platforming skills in Super Mario 64 to incorporate the water gun. The bosses also almost all feel kind of gimmicky. That being said, the world of Sunshine is incredibly well realized, giving an authentic feeling of a diverse yet interconnected tropical world with many excellent and challenging platforming levels. Going through and discovering the different areas is definitely a blast!
