3/5 ★ – diegoseibert's review of Asura's Wrath.
The game is very intense, japanese voice acting is awesome and I particularly liked the intention of emulating an anime structure of episodes. However, the cinematic drive of the narrative ends up making the mechanic gameplay dull by the middle of the story because of the approach they chose.
That happened when I realized that missing the buttons of the QTEs didn't have any impact on what was shown on the screen, it's merely rhythmical — and god, does this game have QTEs...
By the end, it's innovative, dynamic, very "animesc", but the formula doesn't hold up until the end — they even hid an ending behind S scores on previous episodes, unfortunately I don't have the patience to play them again.
(Shout out to the .5 episodes, fully animated and stunning. Unfortunately they suffer from the same malady of the others concerning the gameplay)
