4.5/5 ★ – djgirard's review of Desperados III.
The Magnificent Five
Desperados 3 is a game I knew I would like, but I was surprised by how much I ended up loving it. The narrative and the characters had charmed me from the beginning, but by the end I was getting goosebumps at major story moments. The banter between characters during missions subtly adds depth in a very natural but effective way. The gameplay really brought out the perfectionist in me as I loaded and reloaded countless times to try to complete the mission unseen. The ease of loading and reloading encourages experimentation in a liberating way. The most satisfying moments of my playthrough were moments where I would test out some elaborate plan that just barely works after trying again and again to set it up. Each of the characters also possess their own unique abilities and items which makes each playthrough endlessly interesting. Don't sleep on Desperados 3.
