3/5 ★ – djgirard's review of Paradise Killer.

Murder on the Paradise Island Express Paradise Killer can take a while to get rolling. Initially, I found myself put off because of the sheer amount of information and worldbuilding thrown at the player from the first moment, but I was glad I stuck with it. After a few hours I found myself really sucked in to the world and the conspiracies I was unraveling. The characters are unique, the aesthetics are strange and goofy in a creatively intriguing way, but the moment to moment gameplay is okay at best and grows tedious. Navigating the island is fun and exploratory at first but quickly grows monotonous and is often confusing partially because of the map, which is so unhelpful and vague I struggle to even refer to it as a map. It also doesn't help that the fast travel system is tied to a finite collectible you find scattered throughout the world. But all in all, these gripes, while annoying, didn't seriously impede my enjoyment of unraveling a fun and creative mystery. Best Bits: Imaginative World | Creative Aesthetics Worst Bits: Tedious to navigate | Occasionally too obtuse Played On: Nintendo Switch
