4.5/5 ★ – djgirard's review of The Artful Escape.

“I’m dabbling with the idea of becoming something else entirely.” The Artful Escape is nothing short of breathtaking. The stunning art style was the first thing to jump out at me, and I was floored from the beginning. I smiled in wonder and amazement along with Francis whenever the game took us to some strange and foreign land. Emotive voice acting brings the characters to life, giving each a unique motive and identity. They bring an incredible story to life. I love stories of normal people being spirited away on some fantastical adventure and this is an example of the highest caliber. Everything about the presentation oozes with polish and craft, and truly lives up to the lofty ideals that the game sets for itself. With that said, I wish there was more substance to the game. Gameplay is simple and unchallenging. It’s like having the best whipped cream of your life and nothing to put it on top of. But the best whipped cream of your life is still the best whipped cream of your life, and The Artful Escape is still leagues beyond most games I’ve played this year. Best Bits: Immaculate presentation: art style, voice acting, narrative Worst Bits: Meager gameplay Played On: PC
