3.5/5 ★ – dropthemoon's review of Furi.

The game is exclusively walk and talk cutscenes and boss fights. While the former did nothing for me, the latter were mechanically satisfying and suitably intense. The sword combat did essentially equate to a parry QTE, leaning more into that in later fights, for the worse. The extra layer of QTE stick wiggle was atrocious in the later fights, but thankfully you can turn it off in the options. The biggest issue I had was that some fights were too long and easy until a final phase, failing which would require you to redo the abundant previous phases. This, combined with the occasional eaten input (perhaps the buffer was small and I input too early after another action, but this is how it felt at times) led to occasional frustration. Still, a parry mechanic is always satisfying, the bullet hell elements were solid, and the bosses were varied enough to keep things feeling fresh without the game overstaying its welcome.
