4/5 ★ – edenmorn's review of Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward.

Has alot of really high highs but low lows. the msq story is great but the pacing is all over the place. It starts slow, the 53-55 quests are some of the best story content in game, everything surrounding the level 57 dungeon is incredibly done, and then the story violently slams the brakes until the very end of the expansions main story. Patches are equally all over the place but 3.3 and the Final Steps of Faith trial is one of my favorite story moments in a video game ever. Setting and cast are good, if you didn't like alphinaud during ARR he gets clowned on several times in here, and Estinien and Ysayle are really fun companions with incredibly well-done arcs. everyone else is kindof forgettable (sorry aymeric). The side content unlockable post-heavensward, the Alexander raids and Sky Pirate alliance raids, are kind of weak compared to what would come later, but at least the music slaps. Also noteworthy are the Dark Knight job quests, genuinely among the best writing in the game and also Sidgurdu is there :) tl;dr dragons are cool, good expansion
