Never have I enjoyed a video game with this much reading involved. Disco Elysium is nothing if not an unparalleled experience. The story and dialogue were extremely well-written and often hilarious. This game had me giggling at the ridiculousness of scenarios before snapping me into solemn seriousness as the implications of a sequence unravel. I (along with every other player of the game) fell in love with Kim Kitsuragi. The cast of characters as a whole felt deeply considered and well-characterised. I will say that the final solution to the mystery left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied, and although the dice-roll mechanic was fun, it did turn frustrating after encountering a pretty major soft lock. These are my only major complaints in what was otherwise a stellar experience.
