4/5 ★ – evan_mason's review of Siren.

Fascinating game that is one of the least player-friendly, obscure, and punishing survival horror games I've ever played. To describe this game as obscure on a story and game level would be an understatement. There are times where to progress you have to rewind through multiple levels and solve obscure puzzles that are not even telegraphed to the player or leave an item somewhere so another character can find it later to progress. Cutscenes feature uncanny-valley character models with real-life faces projected onto them. The result of all this is a game that feels like being in purgatory while you play it. This is even more uncomfortable and terrifying than any of the Silent Hills. It's not just that the enemies and environment are spooky--the game itself feels evil. It's hard to put into words, but this game provides a horror experience unlike anything else I've experienced.
