4.5/5 ★ – eyskak's review of Paper Mario: The Origami King.
all the criticisms of this game are 100% valid. the lack of a level system and proper rewards make battling pointless and many of the character in this game outside of established character and the two origami siblings are given little to know unique characterisation (while i’m glad nintendo at least gave ‘bobby’ - as olivia calls him - a personality and make him a character i love, i’ll never forgive them for making his official name just Bob-om, and it’s vindictive of nintendos fear to make new mario characters in spin off games that permeated the Wii U generation to now. ( although recent and upcoming mario rpg and PMTTYD remakes are very promising)). I still can’t deny this game was incredible. The visuals, the story, the game play (yes i liked the rings, sue me), the ~main~ characters especially kamek and bowser jr, the settings, the boss fights, the ending everything about this game blew me away cemented me as a fan of the paper mario franchise. i cannot wait for the next game.
