4.5/5 ★ – fabrici0sf's review of Dandara.

Dandara is great, and it was an astonishing experience for me. I honestly didn't have super high expectations because I hadn't heard much of it, but I really wanted to give a shot to a game that was developed by my fellow brazilians. All this only to realize, as I went by playing it, that it was everything I personally loved, executed in a super innovative way. To think of a metroidvania with the Souls-inspired bonfire system AND filled with Brazil's cultural and historical representations would be almost too good to be true to me, so yeah, I really resonated with it. The DLC also adds a MASSIVE amount of content, to an extent of almost doubling the game's size, so I do recommend it, since it's absolutely accessible. Honestly, I crushed through the DLC before I even finished the game the first time around. I heard two core critics from other players, one being how movement can get weird sometimes, and the other being the difficulty with the DLC's last boss. Honestly, I could grasp where the first critic came from - Sure, with such an innovative way to make movement solely based on jumping around without any gravity, it can get weird once or twice during the playthrough, if much. Now, the second one, I couldn't understand at all. I did find the boss battle hard - Took me a couple of hours to get through it - , but absolutely not enough to make me want to give up on it or anything, just challenging enough.
