4/5 ★ – fabrici0sf's review of Ruined King: A League of Legends Story.

I'm not the biggest turn-based RPG enthusiast, but this game was more than enough to make me nearly 100% it. Riot Games' art direction with all of Viego's narrative was amazing, and the way Airship Syndicate integrated the League universe in its own game was nearly flawless and left me absolutely mesmerized. The characters in the game are very well presented and each one's personal objective are either purposefully mysterious or straightforward, and the identity contrast that the party as a whole serves is a treat. The antagonists, too, can be seen as a party with different interests, and their arcs' revelation and conclusion in the long run are also very neatly organized. Ruined King also presents a different take on the turn-based RPG's combat system. The addition of an Initiative Bar and Lane Abilities as a core element in combat can make some fights more dynamic and understandable for begginners of the genre, as well as turn some other fights into puzzles where you have to organize your attacks in order to not fall into traps positioned in the bar. I can say that art direction and world building in this game are the two absolute best things you will find when analyzing the isolated pieces, as well as when accounting the League universe. Whether you're a turn-based RPG fan or if you're already into LoL, or even if you're just looking for a really good game to go through, Ruined King is a good shot. All gameplay pillars - Exploration, combat and social interaction - are heavily explored throughout the game in its own ways, and that becomes clear as you enjoy every single one of these scenarios. As enjoyable and artful as the game is, though, there are some slightly annoying bugs in it, but I believe it isn't anything unsolvable through future updates, so I hope that happens.
