3.5/5 ★ – fez219's review of Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx.
This dlc is really meaty but... Just a bit tedious.
If you're in Borderlands for the grind, this is postgame paradise. It adds an extremely difficult superboss, tons more missions you can grind through to loot a huge vault repeatedly, a very difficult arena, and more.
Otherwise, there's a mediocre story with a few fun new characters to blast through. There's some very off-color humor that's not great but also a few characters and scenarios I found really funny. The highlight is the villian, Knoxx, who talks with you throughout the story and is quite entertaining.
There's a lot of new enemy types, missions, and areas, and it's LONG. Unfortunately, it leans very hard into driving - giving the player multiple new vehicles to choose from - but you'll constantly be driving on the huge highways to backtrack to new missions. There's no fast travel and it's sorely missed. At least the new vehicles kinda hold their own in combat. The roads are cool looking, but most areas don't feel much different from the base game and feature the same dingy color palette. I was definitely ready to move on but the end.
