3.5/5 ★ – fwsnacks's review of Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
It’s a good game, better than I remember.
It’s filled with flaws and I really think the horrid designs, clippings, blackouts and jump scares really ruin a lot of the immersion during the actual content of the game.
With that being said, the death mini games are great, and as someone who stops considering the lore after UCN, I love this games lore. It’s super interesting, not insanely complex and a bit nostalgic. Though I am considering the death mini games from memory of my other 2 playthroughs, as this time around I didn’t die until 10/20 mode (which I’m still stuck on)
That’s another flaw, I get 10/20 being the ultimate challenge and all but the curve is too steep from night 6. I’m not saying it should be nerfed, im saying every night before should be made just like one level higher. We only get 5 nights for the base game, as much as the first one is a tutorial, it shouldn’t be basically impossible to lose. And I shouldn’t be able to complete night 6 in one try with no problem, and not be able to get past 2AM in 20 tries on 10/20 mode.
The gameplay isn’t great, but it’s not bad either. I kinda enjoy the repetition of it, even if I would’ve preferred at least a bit more variety. This game has a lot of replayability, which is why this is my third playthrough.
I’ve also just come to appreciate the lore of this game more when I refreshed my memory. I love the lore of the few first games, and after the later games ruined it, I love it even more.
