3/5 ★ – gabicus's review of FBC: Firebreak.

Launching a successful co-op shooter let alone any multiplayer title nowadays is a feat and on paper, it looked like Remedy was checking all the boxes with FBC: Firebreak. It’s on GamePass and PS+. Minimal micro transactions with all upcoming updates free for all players. It has thoughtful co-op mechanics and classes. But when it comes down to it, it just doesn’t have it where it counts. With only five missions the game amounts to around eight hours of play and that’s with basically maxing out a class. That wouldn’t be such an issue if those hours were full of compelling gameplay but they just weren’t. Mission design severely underwhelms as does enemy variety. Ultimately I had fun playing with friends but I can’t say I want to play more of this. It’s not a bad game, just an okay experience that could’ve been so much more.
