3/5 ★ – gabicus's review of Starfield: Shattered Space.

As someone who enjoyed Starfield, I was looking forward to Shattered Space. It sounded like a fresh start for the game to make a new impression. After beating the brief campaign I’m left a little disappointed. This isn’t a bad expansion but it isn’t great either. I think in some ways containing the expansion to one hand crafted location was a good idea. But ironically it’s also what didn’t work for me. I really enjoyed the variety of environments in the base game and exploring different worlds. Containing everything to one location only makes Starfield prevailing issues more noticeable. I hope this game can have a similar “comeback moment” to what Cyberpunk achieved with Phantom Liberty. I think had this expansion released alongside some system overhauls it would’ve felt more worth the price. Instead what we got is more of a fun weekend romp that doesn’t really make much of an impact on the game.
