3.5/5 ★ – gebi's review of Fallout 4.
It’s weird that some of this game was strangely nostalgic as i played this in year 10 when it first came out on Xbox one but i only made it a few hours into the story that time. I played for over 30 hours mostly just experiencing the open world but story wise i made it up to just after meeting Shawn and that was enough for me. It was cool to be able to play an open world game on steam deck that almost keeps a locked 60fps. I also only bought this game for $11 AUD on steam for the GOTY edition so i really can’t complain about the amount of time i spent and fun i had in this world. I discovered almost every map marker i believe and i love just running around new areas with my poison and fire sword slashing dudes with my trusty companion dog-meat (best companion he never left my side) and filling up the map. The story is engaging for the most part i’d say. I feel like the game really doesn’t have that much charm or identity unfortunately, the areas feel really “gamey”, almost like it was made in one of those RPG maker programs instead of feeling real and lived in. I might come back to it eventually to finish up the story but i doubt i’ll beat the DLC. 7/10 for now but could drop to a 6 one day. Easily the best Bethesda game apart from maybe Oblivion but i much prefer nuclear wasteland as a setting over whatever boring generic medieval setting Bethesda is touting.
