5/5 ★ – greatizayahman's review of Street Fighter 6.

I, am a fighting game fan Not only am I fighting game fan, but a Street Fighter fan first and foremost. You’ve probably heard it all right? 2 the untouchable ground 0, Third Strike has the crown, Alpha is just so colorful, Ultra IV we took you for granted, and V…I’m glad you turned out to be a satisfying experience in the end. Now V, that’s the one that really compliments this game because no matter how many hours I sunk into SFV, I always felt like I was clocking into a shift. SFV was a cubicle, this sterile, esports infected thing that didn’t really escape that grasp even slightly until our last bonus season of the game with expressive characters and even more expressive play styles. This last season was a spark for me..as I was growing curious as to what this could mean for SF6, especially after Luke’s inclusion into the game as well. Well, after I booted up the game I was greeted with neon lighted menus, underground music, a cast of characters who are literally just ordinary passersby’s wanting to grow and full of personality (Luke is a lovable goober, Marisa is the buff woman of our dreams) to my classic guys like Ryu, Juri, Chun, Guile, etc fitted out in street fashion and gameplay mechanics that keeps you on your toes from the minute “FIGHT” popped on screen to “RYU WINS”. I’m really happy to say I’ve sunk almost all of my summer into Street Fighter 6. Street Fighter, is back. I couldn’t really tell you where to start with what is my favorite thing here. My mind goes to the cast which is probably my favorite starting roster in any of the franchise’s titles, or the single player content just being present which I’ve only sunk my time into arcade mode gathering awesome concept art and classic pieces of art, but I have to say the gameplay is just so riveting. Drive gauge is easily the series’ best battle system, combining every titles trademark battle system into one game. You still have super meters from 2, parries are back universally from 3rd Strike, drive impact is the successor to focus attack and you even have drive rush which can be your very own custom combo from Alpha or FADC from IV, and even reversals are back from Alpha and V. After hundreds of hours, I’ve barely started considering how to ruin my opponents drive gauge, watching that green bar deplete and end up handing me my victory or going for a longer combo or level 3 to restore back a bit of my own. This game does resource management so well and no two games, no two Ryu’s will ever play the same and it’s ADDICTING knowing that alone. The online here is just, superb as well. I am a WiFi warrior, but I haven’t experienced more than two bad matches per week and I’m a guy who’s on this game daily. The Battle Hub, I admit, I haven’t been in since the game’s first week but I still love the implementation of a social lobby of this scale. The custom rooms are seamless and even have the option to toggle a practice room and the rollback is perfectly kitted into this game. And I just want to throw this paragraph in here, because the presentation for this game feels like such an attraction. I mean the voice acting is just, wow, voice lines from critical arts like Ken yelling at you to “Sit down and SHUT UP” or Luke wailing on you and warning you to “STAY, DOOOOOWN” gives me chills even typing it out. I mean the music is so, experimental and ambient and so cheesy in the best way, and these STAGES are so dynamic and make you feel like you’re actually street fighting. The little nods, like Cammy’s cat coming out to greet her in the character select screen or Chun sitting on her suitcases to be a reference from the Nishimura art of her we fawn over, this game is OOZING with celebration for this wonderful fighting game franchise. I feel like I’m hanging out with old friends and asked to stay to meet new ones that are just as likable as the SF2 originals. This isn’t a full on review, especially since I haven’t finished World Tour (It’s as goofy as you thought it’d be and I’m in love with what I’ve played so far) I just wanted to put something out after playing this game for 150+ hours. This is a fighting game package I cannot recommend highly enough. This is not only one of the best day 1 releases I’ve got the chance to play, but Capcom has put out my favorite game from them and my personal favorite fighting game of all time.
