3/5 ★ – guished_foobi's review of Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace.
Definitely a fun time, but not nearly as fun as I remembered it back in the day.
For the pros: I like how (mostly) inventive the team was that worked on this game. They found a way to incorporate a lot of the pillars of Spider-Man with very limited gba hardware. You've got fun beat em' up mechanics, web-swinging, wall-climbing, and quite a few notable members of Spider-Man's rogues gallery making an appearance as bosses as well.
For the cons: level designs were a bit average overall. I never really felt like the level was built for the purpose of having Spider-Man zip around it. With the exception of maybe the final area, the rest came off as bland. Bosses were not fantastic either. None of them ever allowed me to fully spread my wings. Most were too easy, too simple, or had too much hp.
The mechanics they made here are good, but I feel like they never once gave me the opportunity to throw absolutely everything I had at a challenge. That would have felt really great, especially with all the cool gameplay elements you have at your disposal.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons for me, but not by as much as I remembered when I was younger.
