5/5 ★ – horrorsmoked's review of Outlast.
If you love horror in any medium, you will love Outlast. The atmosphere in and of itself is exactly what you want from a survival horror game. From the beginning Waylon Park (Whistleblower DLC), a software engineer working for Murkoff Corp, he sends an anonymous email to Miles Upshur (Freelance journalist of the main game) after witnessing the horrors that Morphogenic Engine he was maintaining was doing to the patients at Mount Massive Asylum. Breaching his contract, he is then sent in as a patient of MMA, where he encounters a cannibal, his boss, and a serial killer who wants a ‘perfect bride’ as he attempt his escape, and the Walrider.
Miles Upshur, receiving the email from Park has arrived at MMA with a camera to record his findings, by this point the asylum is completely ruined and the patients, now called ‘variants’ are running rapid through the halls. During his look to escape, Upshur encounters a self proclaimed priest, a pair of naked twins, a mad executive of MMA, the creator of the Walrider, and Chris Walker. During the final stretch of his escape, Upshur must kill the host of the Walrider, but instead becomes the new hosts & is eventually gunned down.
If possible play the DLC Whistleblower first for a nice cohesive experience
