3/5 ★ – hunkypet's review of Knack.

Knack, knack, knack. I didn’t know much about Knack other than the long-standing joke that it’s the greatest game ever made, a dig at Sony for using it to launch a new generation off. Knack is a wonderful throwback to the bygone era of 3D action platformers much in the vain of many PS2 ones. Knack surprised me with its difficulty. I went for medium as I assumed it’s a kids game and I wanted a fairly breezy experience but not an absolute cakewalk. Knack was actually really tough, a few hits will kill you and you have to be precise with your dodging and attacking accuracy. It’s really bright and fun to look at, even at the PS4’s launch it wasn’t blowing anyone away but it has enough charisma and charm to win most over. The levels are varied and interesting and the enemy designs are thoughtful and detailed. Don’t get me wrong this game is far from perfect, it’s biggest problem is much like the games it’s emulating from a past era is it’s so damn repetitive, I had to limit my play sessions to roughly an hour long as not to get burnt out. It’s not world changing or genre defining but it’s a damn sight better than it’s reputation. Give it a shot. Played on PS4 Pro
