2.5/5 ★ – hunkypet's review of Super Motherload.

Played it on a whim due to it being a free PS Plus game. I quickly realised that Super Motherload is a sequel to a flash game that I used to play. It still firmly has it roots in flash player territory, it’s got its own charm but I can’t say it’s strong enough to draw you back again and again. A fairly simplistic puzzler that involves you digging vertically down, collecting resources in the most strategic ways possible to upgrade your ship and then mine deeper. It has a fairly rewarding gameplay loop, the level variety is just about vast enough to keep you intrigued to see what’s further down below. I will say the last boss is an absolute pain until you memorise it’s pattern. For fans of puzzles games it’s a no brainer, anyone else I’m gonna say it’s hit or miss territory. Played on PS3
