3/5 ★ – hunkypet's review of Syndicate.
A fast paced, balls to the walls style FPS that was rather uncommon in the PS3/X360 era.
I never really hear anyone talk about this game and it’s a shame because it plays really well. It has an okay story that follows typical Sci-Fi tropes that is engaging enough but it’s the spectacular voice work from a star studded cast that steal the show.
The levels are short 10-15 mins and there isn’t many you get about 6+ hours of story content here. That however makes it a perfect game to master and hone your skills. It really is a twitchy fast paced shooter, linking gunplay with high powered melee attacks and special abilities is awesome. It becomes almost like a rhythm game.
Syndicate has really nice aesthetics aswell, it’s a well built and detailed world oozing style. The game is in dire need of a remaster as at 720p the visuals are just a tad blurry, the textures and lighting really wouldn’t look out of place on the PS4/XONE era.
It’s a real hidden gem, not the deepest game but supremely fun for a short time and people who want to master it have the perfect canvas in its short and snappy mission structure.
