2.5/5 ★ – hunkypet's review of WRC 3: FIA World Rally Championship.

A reasonable is rather barebones Rally experience. WRC 3 doesn’t do much to push the genre forward or in fact much of anything to heap a whole lot of praise towards it. What you do have is a run of the mill game that feels rushed with some corners cut. The career mode is a strong point, clear and simple design allow for easily jumping in and out of events. The aim is to do events in each country, racking up stars to battle the champion of that area, pretty much all you can ask for in a Rally game. The rest of the package is rather slim, I did just the career mode and left it at that. The presentation as a whole is rather mediocre. Passable visuals that in the right light on certain stages can wow but most of the time look bland and bleak. The same can be said for the cars, some sound really awesome while most a tinny imitation at best. Like all racing games the handling is the most important and here you have quite the learning curve. Very sloppy and loose controls force you to have to rethink everything you have learnt from most other driving games. You do eventually get to grips with it, but the game never really convinced me that the cars are connected to ground, they felt like they were floating. Rally fans will find enjoyment but people looking to move into the genre or have a fun racing experience should look elsewhere. Mediocre presentation and suspect handling doesn’t fair well to newcomers. Played on PS3
