The animation is great, the music is sonic adventure 2, what’s not to like about this game? Well, let’s start with the volleyball matches. This is essentially the only thing you do in the game, with a single platforming challenge coming right at the very end of the game. Dodgeball matches play the same way over and over, where victory is near guaranteed if you can grab enough balls early and be as aggressive as possible. Catching or deflecting balls is wholly inconsistent and you can be stunlocked quickly if you aren’t quick enough to handle every incoming projectile. In the end, I muscled my way through this story light game/anime waiting to happen. And what I learned at dodgeball academia is every problem is a nail waiting to be hammered.
