4/5 ★ – ikindasortanerd's review of Transformers: Devastation.
Transformers Devastation doesn’t overstay it’s welcome at all. Some would say it’s too short, with its story clocking in at around 5.5-6 hours. But considering I got it for free with PS plus, I think this is a pretty fantastic action game.
The combat is immensely satisfying, with awesome visual feedback to your actions, sending deceptions flying across arenas and smashing through objects. There is a great sense of power, and this is something Platinum Games is known for.
The love and attention that went into immersing you in G1 Transformers (even from the limited knowledge I have) is really impressive. The game employs a great cel shaded art style that has held up really well over time, the music is fantastic, and the voice acting is perfection.
If I had any gripes, it would be some repetitious levels, and there are two particular boss fights that take place in environments with no floor that I found extremely disoriented, particularly the final fight. But even with those gripes, this scratched a transformers itch that I found after seeing the new film, and I’ll probably be revisiting this in the future.
