4/5 ★ – jaymewmew's review of Jenny LeClue - Detectivu.

I really adored this game. The paper cutout art style is incredibly charming, and the voice acting and characterization is fantastic, especially when it comes to its supporting cast - CJ in particular is delightful. He sounds like Christopher Lloyd, and definitely gives off Doc Brown vibes, if Doc Brown was even crazier. The gameplay is a variation on a point-and-click adventure game. There are puzzles to solve (none of which are that difficult) and some different mechanics get introduced as the game progresses, but it’s all somewhat secondary to the narrative, which is where the game really shines. It manages to weave two mysteries to solve (one larger than the other) in an organic and engaging way. There are some sci-if elements introduced, which builds to a satisfying crescendo. I was originally skeptical about it, because I thought adding sci-fi to the story would hamper the murder-mystery vibe the game establishes in the beginning, but it stays grounded enough and intriguing enough to keep the player invested. The Cliffhanger ending was disappointing, if only because I wanted to see how the story would fully play out. Here’s to hoping the studio behind Jenny Leslie get a chance to do a sequel, because I wasn’t ready for her first adventure to end.
