2.5/5 ★ – jaymewmew's review of Sonic Superstars.

Multiplayer is unplayable. The camera seems to follow the person furthest ahead, so characters are constantly falling off screen, forcing players to regenerate over and over again. Just completely joyless and chaotic. Single player is better, but the emphasis on platforming heavily cuts down on your ability to zoom through levels, which is inherently the appeal of Sonic games. The speed in this game just isn’t there Levels look beautiful, but they feel long, taking an average about 10 minutes to play. That’s not much, but compared to the short levels of classic Sonic games, you feel the length. I played on a Switch, so graphically the characters didn’t look very crisp, and massive frame drops during loading left a lot of negative feelings toward performance and fun here.
