3/5 ★ – jdraco's review of Monkey Party.

Happy Monkey Month, Everyone!!! This is the 3rd annual Monkey Month, and this is going to be a month for the ages… Now I’ll admit, every year I’ve slacked on the reviews, but not this year This year there’s going to be a lot of reviews, a lot of games, a lot of monkeys, and a lot of child support payments because my ex-wife is bleeding me for everything I’ve got That sad fact aside, though, we’re starting this month off with Monkey Party Now you may be asking yourself, “What is this game?” Well, if it wasn’t already obvious, this is a puzzle game where you drop monkeys onto each other to try and combine them to make new monkeys… It’s fucking stupid But it’s also very addictive The description of this game on Steam says, “It's a charming puzzle adventure that's easy to play and hard to put down!” And honestly, that’s a pretty accurate description for the game I really thought I would end up playing this game for like 20 minutes, say to myself, “Alright, that’s enough of that," then put the game down, write a review for it in 2 seconds, and then cry myself to sleep But I legitimately ended up playing it for like 1-2 hours And the driving force behind that was just trying to get all of the monkeys' Like I said earlier, the game just consists of you dropping monkeys on top of each other, and if they’re the same species, then they’ll combine and create a brand new one And they keep doing this until you get the last possible monkey, which is the gorilla And getting this gorilla ending was no joke; there were constant failed attempts; many obscenities were shouted at my computer screen; noise complaints were made; police were called; it was a journey, to say the least But in the end, it actually was very satisfying to have gotten all the different species of monkey Which is not something I expected to say And I also never expected to say that this game is actually pretty good, and I’m not mad at all that I played it Although one thing I’ll say about the game that’s kind of shitty is the physics I’ve yet to mention that all of the monkeys are encased in these balls, which are all different sizes and will roll around if they’re touched But their patterns and trajectories never really make sense It always feels like a fucking crap shoot every time I hit one of the monkey balls Because I just have absolutely no idea where it’s gonna go So that’s kind of shitty But again, this genuinely was a pretty good game and a solid waste of an hour and a half Plus, it’s free, so if you don’t have much money because you constantly have to pay child support bills, then this game is perfect So I’m going to give Monkey Party, a 3/5 *I will say though that there’s a DLC for this game called the “Anime Girls DLC,” so that heavily made me consider dropping this game down half a score*
