2.5/5 ★ – jdraco's review of Undercover Cops.

I’m not really sure what they were going for with the setting or theme of this game Because you play as these “undercover cops,” but then it’s set in some weird Mad Max dystopian city where everything is all fucked up and destroyed And then there’s like these mole people that rummage through the streets, and I don’t even know; it’s just very weird, and to be honest, I didn’t really vibe with it I got nothing against it, but it also just doesn’t really do anything for me and isn’t really that cool to me whatsoever And to be honest, nothing in this game is really that cool; everything is just pretty standard The coolest thing in this game is that the character Claude can do a flaming bicycle kick attack That’s really it, though This is probably the most standard beat-em-up game you could ever play And there’s nothing really wrong with that at all ‘ I mean, for what it is, it’s actually pretty good But there’s just nothing too special about it There is nothing that really sets it apart from the rest Except for one bullshit thing that they put in the game, which is a bad ending Yeah, apparently in the final level, if you don’t stop the evil villain guy from dropping a bomb, then it apparently just fucking wipes out the whole city below, and you get the “bad end,” which is what the game calls it And this is stupid as fuck, not only because the whole journey essentially feels completely pointless because there’s no payoff But also in the dialogue for this bad ending, it said that the undercover cops were stripped of their badges after letting the city get blown up But then who the fuck was stripping them of their badges? The police station was blown up, and there’s no one left to physically strip the damn badges But then also, why are they stripping the badges if the undercover cops did ultimately complete the goal of taking down the evil villain guy? I mean, wasn’t that the goal of the whole entire game? Or was the whole entire goal of the game to stop the evil villain guy from dropping a bomb in one 10-second gameplay segment? BECAUSE IF SO, THEN IT WASN’T ON THE BACK OF THE BOX!!! Sorry, I got pretty heated there But yeah, overall, this is a solid beat-up; nothing really too special at all though And I was going to give it a 3, but everything that I just said about the bad ending honestly convinced me to lower the score So, 2.5/5
